Environmental Impact

Scope

R-Health is committed to providing a high-quality cost-effective occupational health service whilst minimising its impact on the environment and adopting sustainable environmental management practices. R-Health is keen to promote good sustainability practice in all company activities and is committed to keeping the carbon footprint of the company as low a level as possible.

Responsibilities

Senior Management Team (SMT) – to take responsibility for developing a culture of sustainability awareness and ensure that this policy is followed at all R-Health sites and premises. All staff – to follow this policy. 3 R-Health Principles The R-Health sustainability policy is based upon the following principles:
• To comply with all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice at all times.
• To integrate sustainability considerations into all business decisions.
• To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our sustainability policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
• To minimise the impact on the environment of all office and transportation activities.
• To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.

R-Health Principles

The R-Health sustainability policy is based upon the following principles:

• To integrate sustainability considerations into all business decisions.
• To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our sustainability policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
• To minimise the impact on the environment of all office and transportation activities.
• To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance

Travel and Meetings

R-Health will:
• Where possible, walk, cycle and/or use public transport to attend meetings, site visits etc.
• Organise a tax efficient cycle purchase scheme for our staff, to encourage our staff to purchase bicycles.
• Avoid physically travelling to customer meetings etc. where alternatives are available and practical, such as using teleconferencing, video conferencing and efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips. These options are also often more time efficient, while not sacrificing the benefits of regular contact with customers.
• To reduce the need to travel to meetings and elsewhere, and facilitate regular customer contact, R-Health encourages staff to use telephone conferencing.
• Reduce the need for staff to travel by supporting alternative working arrangements and promote the use of public transport by locating offices in accessible locations.

Purchasing

• R-Health will preferentially purchase products that minimise environmental impact.
• Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment.
• Purchase electricity from a supplier committed to renewable energy.
• Ensure that timber furniture, and any other timber products are recycled or from well-managed, sustainable sources.
• R-Health will ask suppliers about their environmental policies and how they manage environmental issues.
• When sourcing company cars, R-Health will encourage staff to use electric/hybrid vehicles.

Consumption of Resources

R-Health will:
• Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by double siding all paper used, and identifying
opportunities to reduce waste.
• Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment through considerate use and good housekeeping.
• R-Health staff will always try to save water by ensuring water taps are off when not in use and only using the quantity of water needed for tasks.
• R-Health staff will aim to conserve energy by ensuring the heating systems at R-Health offices are set to a comfortable temperature and that thermostatic valves on the radiators are used.

Waste

R-Health will:

All staff will receive training in environmental and sustainability matters as part of their induction.

Compliance with this Policy

Compliance with this policy will be assessed annually as part of the R-Health annual quality audit. The SMT will monitor relevant legislation and best practice guidance and will ensure compliance with such legislation on an ongoing basis.
